What is the difference between whey protein isolate and whey protein concentrate?
According to the Food and Drug Administration, Whey Protein isolate is a natural dairy protein powder made up of at least 90% protein.
As a protein source, whey protein isolate contains more protein than whey protein concentrate, which contains about 80% protein. In addition, whey protein isolate contains almost no sugar, lactose or fat. Although whey protein isolate packs more protein, whey protein concentrate is the most economical option per gram of protein.

How much Whey Isolate should I consume?
A commonly recommended dosage is 1–2 scoops (around 25–50 grams) per day, usually after workouts. It’s recommended that you follow the serving instructions on the packaging. Keep in mind that if your protein intake is already high, adding protein on top of your current intake may be completely unnecessary. Concerns about protein causing kidney damage and contributing to osteoporosis are unwarranted.

Who should use Isolate?
The reasons people choose whey isolate over concentrate is due to the lower fat and carb content, and therefore lower calories content per serving. If you are lactose intolerant then whey isolate is the protein powder for you. Just be careful not to buy a blend of whey isolate and concentrate, as this will remove the benefit of no lactose and lower fat and carb content. If you are on a strict low-calorie diet or currently watching calories carefully to prepare for a bodybuilding show or competition, whey isolate will be the better product for you
